Success: You have added Antique Art Deco Galalith Necklace - Multicolor French 1920s to your shopping cart!
Rare Art Deco necklace featuring chunky swirled and stacked honeycomb beads in a striking multicolor design. Galalith, a casein based plastic derived from milk also known as "French Bakelite", was popular in Europe in places like France & Czechoslovakia in the 1920s and 1930s and was used by famous designers like Jacob Bengal and Louis Rousselet. The designer of this piece was unknown, but everything about this necklace says "couture" down to the swirled barrel clasp. It measures 19" long and is in overall excellent condition, with a couple small chips to one of the black beads at the top, and a flea bite chip to a turquoise cone bead. The thread is original and seems sturdy. A true collector's piece that's ready to be worn again!
