Minolta Maxxum 7000 (also known as Minolta 7000 AF in Europe and α-7000 in Japan), a 35mm SLR film camera introduced in February 1985.It was the first camera to feature both integrated autofocus (AF) and motorized film advance, setting a new standard for SLR cameras. Unlike traditional SLRs with dials, the Maxxum 7000 utilized a system of buttons for setting controls, making it more user-friendly, especially in Program mode where it functioned like a sophisticated point-and-shoot camera. Beyond autofocus, it introduced features like auto film loading, automatic DX film speed setting, and auto rewinding, enhancing the user experience. The autofocus motor is integrated within the camera body and drives the lens through a "screwdriver" connection. In Program mode, the camera automatically selected the best program based on the lens in use, providing consistent results for "point-and-shoot" photography, especially with Minolta AF lenses between 35mm and 105mm.
